Reliant is committed to recognizing top student athletes throughout the Houston Area. That is why we have partnered with the Houston Texans for the 13th annual Scholarship for Champions program.
This scholarship awards eight $5,000 scholarships to high school student-athletes who have exhibited remarkable leadership in athletics, academics and community involvement. Since its inception in 2005, the Scholarship for Champions program has awarded $440,000 to 88 students from the greater Houston area.
Specifically, each nominee must:
- Be a full-time high school student scheduled to graduate in the spring of 2019
- Planning to pursue a college degree (enrolled in college in the fall of 2019)
- Have participated in a varsity sport between August 1, 2017 and the present
- Be nominated by an administrator, coach or teacher
Nominations must be submitted by October 26, 2018.
|Nominees must distinguish themselves academically with an overall minimum grade point average of
3.0 (based on a 4.0 scale)
Note: Academic standing will be verified by the school’s registrar’s office.
|Nominees must demonstrate a passion for athletics by helping improve team morale and success.
Note: The degree of the student’s athletic ability will not be considered.

|Nominees must conduct themselves, both on and off the field/court, in a manner that demonstrates integrity to themselves, their teams, their schools, and in alignment with the values of Reliant.||Consideration shall be given to participation in community involvement, in which the nominees have had an opportunity to demonstrate qualities of leadership.||Nominees must also have a compelling story to share. For example, candidates may have overcome a personal challenge or persevered through the rigors of high school athletics.|
